"What if the Axis Won World War 2?" may be the most cliché alternate history scenario, but it also has one of the widest appeal to people not particularly invested in alternate history, and would serve as a decent introduction to both the genre of alternate history and the TV show Alternate History. I legitimately think any one of us could have done a better job with this series, so this thread asks exactly that: what would you have done if you were magically transported back to 2011 and given full control of Spike's Alternate History? Okay, so most of yinz probably already know that Cody from AlternateHistoryHub recently released a video basically performing an autopsy on Spike's horrendous "Alternate History" TV show, which failed miserably after the pilot.įor those of you who don't really care to watch the video, basically the reason "Alternate History" failed was because 1) they had no fucking idea what they were doing (I could stop here but I'll go further) 2) the pilot was not only about the singular most stock alternate history scenario in all of alternate history, the Nazis winning world war 2, but them doing so in the most ridiculously implausible way AND taking over America 3) they failed to meaningfully extrapolate from said implausible victory scenario or Nazi takeover of America, focusing instead on creating nonsensical parallelisms to our timeline that made the already-muddled timeline even more incoherent.
